*Important information*
1. Receiving the download link.
NESST will be notified of successful payments and provided with general contact information: name, phone number, email address and service plan. Afterwards, you will receive an email from NESST inquiring about the operating systems that will be used, company name (if services are for a business) and main point of contact. Mon-Friday, response time is generally within an 1 hour but can vary. Please allow up to 3-6 hours to receive the first email from NESST. Weekend response time will be up to 8 hours for initial email providing software download link.
2. First Initial Assesment
After downloading the Antivirus onto your device(s), NESST will perform two essential scans: Inventory and Vulnerability Scan, and Scan and Quarantine. It’s recommended that each customer schedule a Zoom call with NESST to review the results of these scans. During this call, we will also discuss cybersecurity best practices.
3. Services
A breakdown of your services, gathering information to schedule your daily/weekly scans, Remote IT services (if applicable) and recommendations tailored to each customer will take place during the initial meeting.
4. Restarting of your system.
As vendors deploy patches to operating systems (Windows, Mac), many will require a restart of your device(s). This update is essential for the update to be fully implemented and take effect on your system. Failure to complete the restart process leaves your device(s) in a vulnerable state since the update has not been applied. It is highly recommended to check for any updates to your system via the settings before starting any important work.
*Security over convenience*
This practice is another line of defense against cybercriminals. Out of date applications and OS (Operating Systems) are a vulnerability. Hackers frequently scan these areas attempting to identify a point of entry.
Update, Update, Update.
5. Manual onboard scanner
The antivirus software comes equipped with an onboard scanner. It is recommended for customers to manually initiate this scanner periodically as a good cybersecurity practice. While NESST conducts scans at will and schedules various scans, we encourage our customers to become their own line of defense against cybercriminals.
6. Free security solutions!
NESST will also provide each customer with free security tools to download onto their device(s) to create more barriers against cybercriminals. A detailed breakdown of the functionality of each tool will be discussed with each customer.
